Salute to the Brave

No matter how cynical your sense of patriotism. No matter what avenue your ancestors took to this country. Forget whether you represent the Blue Team or the Red Team, hate the wars we currently wage or if abhor our foreign policy. The fact remains that ordinary people like yourself and I display extraordinary courage, bravery, and dedication. Dedication to our country. Dedication to protecting our civil liberties. Dedication to ensuring that your right to voice hatred toward our countries without fear of secret police runnin up in your crib to silence you, or getting thrown in jail for opposing the government.

We take for granted liberties that we see as a right, when 200+ years ago it was a privilege. Even my people had to fight longer and harder in hopes of capturing the true essence of the phrase “All men are created equal”. In this post 9/11 world, where anything is possible and the USA is no longer immune to terrorist threat like we all thought at one time, we take this day, Veterans Day, to honor those who gave their lives, and put their lives on the line daily, for our rights.

My younger cousin Martine accepted this challenge. This 18 year old woman, of only 5ft 4(IF THAT) who weighs about 90-100 pounds soaking wet, had a dream to serve our country in the Army. Many, including family and friends, tried to discourage her. Told her how they feared for her life, she wasn’t strong enough, and maybe she should goto college and try a better, safer profession. She laughed at her doubters with their adverse thoughts, and pressed on. She is now stationed in Korea for the next 18 months and loving every minute of it. You see for her, choosing to uphold our values abroad and station herself on the frontlines was the easiest decision she could make, and I couldn’t be any prouder of her for her choice.

It’s funny how we chastise and deter loved ones for choosing to serve, whether out of our own fear, disdain for government, or opposition to war. Speaking as someone who never saw the armed forces as an option, but almost decided given certain circumstances once upon a time, I respect those who enter the USAF. That choice seems difficult, but it impacts an entire nation and makes us a better, safer union.

Thank you to all my family and friends who chose to serve, including my cousin and grandfather. Thank You for all those who gave their lives so that my current and future families can live safely and continue to have the rights we take for granted. This is more than a day off. This is a celebration of Heroes. Happy Veterans Day. We salute you!

White Guilt is over!

Check this articule I found on this topic. I’ll comment along with you… but I need to hear your reaction. Conservative. Liberal. Blue Team. Red Team. Indies. All races. Speak on what this gentleman opine of regarding White Guilt.

White guilt? Done; over; history

There go my fellow conservatives, glumly shuffling along, depressed by the election aftermath. Not me. I’m virtually euphoric. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not thrilled with America’s flirtation with neosocialism. But there’s a massive silver lining in the magical clouds that lofted Barack Obama to the presidency. For today, without a shred of intellectually legitimate opposition, I can loudly proclaim to America:

The Era of White Guilt is over.

This seemingly impossible event occurred because the vast majority of white Americans didn’t give a fluff about skin color and enthusiastically pulled the voting lever for a black man. Not just any black man. A very liberal black man who spent his early career race-hustling banks, praying in a racist church for 20 years, and actively working with America-hating domestic terrorists. Yet white Americans made Barack Obama their leader. Therefore, as of Nov. 4, 2008, white guilt is dead.

So today, I’m feeling a little “uppity,” if you will. For more than a century, the millstone of white guilt hung around our necks, retribution for slave-owning predecessors. In the 1960s, American liberals began yanking that millstone while sticking a fork in the eye of black Americans, exacerbating the racial divide to extort a socialist solution to the country’s problems. But if a black man can become president, exactly what significant barrier is left? The election of Barack Obama destroys the validation of liberal white guilt. The dragon is hereby slain.

So today, I’m feeling a little “uppity,” if you will. From this day forward, my tolerance level for having my skin color hustled is exactly ZERO. No more Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s “God Damn America,” Al Sharpton’s Church of Perpetual Victimization, or Jesse Jackson’s rainbow racism. Cornel West? You’re a fraud. All those “black studies” programs must now teach kids to thank Whitey. And I want that on the final.

Congressional Black Caucus? Irrelevant. U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.)? Shut up. ACORN? Outlawed. Black Panthers? Go home and pet your kitty. Black separatists? Find another nation that offers better dreams. To those Eurosnots who forged careers hating America? I’m still waiting for the first black French president.

No more quotas. No more handouts. No more complaining that “the man” is keeping you down. “The man” is now black.

It’s time to toss that massive, obsolete race-hustle machine upon the heap of the other stupid ’60s ideas. Drag it over there, right between free love and cop-killing. Careful, don’t trip on streaking. Just dump it. And then wash your hands. It’s filthy.

Obama’s ascension also creates another gargantuan irony. How can liberals sell American racism, class envy and unfairness when our new black president and his wife went to Ivy League schools, got high-paying jobs, became millionaires, bought a mansion, and are now moving to the White House? How unfair is that? Now, like a delicious O. Henry tale, Obama’s spread-the-wealth campaign rendered itself moot by its own victory! America is officially a meritocracy. Obama’s election has validated American conservatism.

So … Wham!!!

That’s the sound of my foot kicking the door shut on the era of white guilt. The rites have been muttered, the carcass lowered, dirt shoveled, and tombstone erected. Dead and buried.

Where it all began

I don’t think I ever saw this speech in its entirety. I remember people raving about it, and in my cynicism thinking “thats good and all…. but there’s NO WAY he’ll become president!”

4 Years later: OUR PRESIDENT IS BLACK!!

Reminisce and Enjoy!

Stop The Violence

This is a facebook note from my soror Asia on Facebook. Soon Barack will have to have a “My people we need to chill” Press Conference! LMAO! Enjoy:

This is all in fun…. FYI don’t trip GOD’S not through with me yet LOLOLOLOLOL! Forgive me I can’t tag everyone

Many of you have asked, now that Barack Obama is president elect what can we do as individuals to make sure that his presidency is beneficial to the country and his family stays in tact?

Well as a child of God my first response is to pray for Obama and his family, but the word says that faith without works is dead…. Tee Hee!

As you know, Michelle Obama is Barack Obama’s WIFE, and with the fineness and swagger that he has, he is gonna have home wrecking heffas all in his grill while he travels as president. As first lady you can’t PERSONALLY issue beat downs, mean muggin, slaps etc. but you know this Chicago native BLACK woman isn’t having none of that mess! Its just not “first lady” like to wax tail…

So I volunteer myself (for a fee), the good patriot I am for the good of the country, to issue a beat down for any Jezebel(s) who tries to sample the presidential penis. Put me in the “secret” secret service of women trained to beat down scalawags, hoes, tramps, tricks, and all nasty gutter-butt trollops, and but Obama’s behind in check if he eva thinks about it.

The word says:

Proverbs 26:3
A whip for the horse, a halter for the donkey, and a rod for the backs of fools!

Proverbs 10:13
Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks judgment.

Proverbs 29:15
The rod of correction imparts wisdom…

See beatdowns are sometimes required for a fool to get some wisdom… LOL! I wish a fool would! There will be no Clintonesque mess going on around these parts! Hillary did things her way but… Black women DON’T PLAY DAT! Will you join my beatdown committee today?

I volunteer to be on the beatdown committee Michelle Obama will hopefully assemble to handle these stupid heffas. I work discreetly and being from the Boogie Down, I don’t fight fair and will cut heffas left and right.

YES WE CAN BEAT A TROLLOP DOWN! ROFL!

YES WE CAN!

YES WE CAN!

This is Asia Kelly and I approved this message :)

YES WE DID! Change: I Believe!!

Jeff –

I’m about to head to Grant Park to talk to everyone gathered there, but I wanted to write to you first.

We just made history.

And I don’t want you to forget how we did it.

You made history every single day during this campaign — every day you knocked on doors, made a donation, or talked to your family, friends, and neighbors about why you believe it’s time for change.

I want to thank all of you who gave your time, talent, and passion to this campaign.

We have a lot of work to do to get our country back on track, and I’ll be in touch soon about what comes next.

But I want to be very clear about one thing…

All of this happened because of you.

Thank you,

Barack

For as long as I can remember, my parents instilled in me the ideal that “I could be whatever I wanted to be, as long as i worked hard.. Race etc wouldn’t matter” Only problem was that as African Americans, we are born with racial and success cynicism. We know in THEORY we can do whatever we want, but there was always this little voice telling us “yeah right.. not in your lifetime”. Tonight, that voice remains silent. Tonight that voice sang its last song. Tonight, Barack Obama accomplished the improbable, and shocked the WORLD!

This is bigger than the Jets Win, Bigger than the Giants upset over the Patriots(18-1 FOR LIFE). Bigger than the miracle Mets. This victory cemented a legacy, and hopefully became the catalyst of the next paradigm shift for African Americans and the USA. As I arrive home, on this historic night, THE historic night, the feelings I have are indescribable… but I will try. This feels like waking up on Christmas day to a trailer load of presents, being a proud parent, winning the lottery, and being named Man of the year all rolled into one! Euphoria is an understatement! i feel as if my bank account should have billions in it right now!!

Understand, no other race knows what this victory means to us. You may THINK you know, but you have NO idea! To those who supported Obama, you supported a man who you felt was right for this country. For African Americans, we supported a challenge to the status quo. We supported a challenge to common perceptions of our race. We supported a challenge to racism, cynicism, voter apathy, stereotypes, and apprehension. Obama tonight, lives a dream that ALL African Americans share by BIRTHRIGHT: The Dream of truly saying “We are equal and on the same level as any person in this country”

This country, built on the backs and blood of my ancestors, for 400-500 years, who shunned my people as being sub-human, who made us fight for common rights that the forefathers prescribed in 1776 when revolting from Great Britain, today stood together. We stood as Black, White, gay, straight, Old, young, republican, democrat, and decided that “A change was gonna come”.

My mother, a Haitian immigrant, who recently became a citizen, and my younger sister who recently turned 18, voted together.. both for the first time. I waited 3 hours since 6:40 along with all of QUEENS, to have our voices heard. We shattered all voting records. We spoke to each other with pride and hope. The same thugs and hood n*ggas on my block were challenging the straight arrow 9 to 5′er to vote. As a race, and a people, we came together to show the WORLD that our vote counts and that America will stand against the foolishness and negative direction of this country and truly take a step in the direction of change.

People celebrated in the streetz, facebook is going crazy, all races rejoice even now in NYC. I remember watching CNN and seeing Obama get Ohio and Pennsylvania. My friends and I proclaimed that this race was curtains if we get Florida. THEN VA came thru and said “Yes WE CAN!”. At that point, the last drop of cynicism started leaving my body.. I knew it was a matter of time. then, in the club where I gathered to witness history, CNN projects Barack Obama as the next president of the United States. The feeling was surreal. I cheered, but afterwards… I don’t know. I’m still in shock, but I had to document this moment. Everyone in the club, especially the African Americans, looked towards each other with a glimmer in our eyes that spoke what no words could articulate “YES.. we did it.. finally”.

My only regret is that my father, who passed away 364 days ago, did not witness this moment. i know he looks upon his family, and this moment with one of his trademark “WOW…. How about THAT!” phrases. Thank you dad for making me strive to be better than my best ever will be. Thank you for telling me those typecast “You can be anything you want” speeches because I NEEDED to hear it. thank you, because without you being a great father and a role model, you would’ve never become one of the precursors to this moment.

Thank you Barack. You shattered a glass ceiling, forged out of 500 years of Racist labor. Welded by hate, bigotry, and fear. Cemented by oppression, and sealed with divisiveness. Today, you affirmed a race, and a Nations belief that one voice does matter. one voice can make a difference. one voice is all you need to succeed. Thank you for being the official benchmark for all African Americans going forward. You have eclipsed all of our past heroes, not by one accomplishment, but by building on all prior accomplishments to build the greatest success our people have ever witnessed.

Thank you Barack, for FINALLY giving us a hero OTHER Than Martin Malcolm and the like. You motivated young black youths to vote, when many saw their vote as nothing more than bullshit. you motivated all youths, all races, all creeds, to unite and become a part of this movement we now know as CHANGE. I received more emails, voicemails, phone calls, etc from your campaign than some of my closest friends, and it was all worth it. Your dynamic approach to this campaign set the new standard for American politics. You took on the strongest political machines and emerged victorious. You withstood 22 months of hard labor to capture the Presidency.

President-ELECT Obama, similar to another African American mainstay, you inspire the musician to play noble sentiments, and assist the chemist to convert ungenerous personalities into individuals of great worth. I hope you can destroy all ignoble impulses along with that! because of your bravery, audacity, and determination, my children will look to your achievement as status quo, and realize that the highest offices in the world are at their fingertips, if they are willing to achieve it!

The real question remains; Whats next? We voted this man into office and proved we were motivated about change. Going forward, we must support our new president and make our voices heard so that our country and his history making achievement wont be in vain. We have a lot of issues. A financial crisis, Wars, unemployment, healthcare, among others. this wont change overnight, but with our help it will CHANGE!

The United States of America has hope. Has a new, improved swagger. my mom even said after this she felt “Like we were finally equal with white people”.. WOW…Has the means to better itself and finally get back to more prosperous times. it starts with Barack. A Living Legend, a symbol of achievement.. for a race, for a country.. for a world. Not bad for a community organizer, huh?

Hope, Inspiration, and Change, have all manifested themselves in the spiritual form… and its new name is BARACK OBAMA! Thank YOU Barack. I hope we don’t let each other down

“Rosa Parks sat so Dr. king could walk. Dr. King walked so that Obama can run. Obama is running so our kids can fly.” - Jay-Z

Like him or not, you have to give Barack Obama credit for waging a smart, focused campaign. Destroying the Clinton machine was a major achievement and so was putting together a successful convention in Denver. Obama is now firmly a part of U.S. history, no matter what happens in the presidential election.

The problem some Americans continue to have with the Senator is that he is long on charisma but short on detail. This frightens some voters. Who the heck is this guy, anyway? So when Obama finally agreed to speak to me this week, specifics were on my mind.

First, the man. The Barack Obama I witnessed is self-confident, determined and driven. He was acutely aware of his surroundings from the moment he entered the room. He looks you in the eye and touches your shoulder. He understands how to connect one-on-one.

As far as philosophy goes, Senator Obama is convinced that the federal government should be in control of income distribution and, to some extent, should regulate the free marketplace. That is a classic liberal position, and Obama promotes it well.

The Senator also believes that poor Americans have a basic right to free health care and monetary supplements from the government with no strings attached. The American substance abuser, for example, would derive the same benefit as a hard working, laid off worker would. Again, classic liberalism. No judgments made regarding entitlements.

So, if Barack Obama does become president, there will definitely be change. His left-wing base will demand it, and he will come through. You can decide if that’s change we should believe in, but keep in mind that the unintended consequences of government interference in the marketplace are impossible to predict. Free markets have a way of chafing under government imposition.

On the foreign policy front, Obama has convinced me that he is tough but cautious. He rose up quickly because he vehemently opposed the Iraq war. But now I see a man who understands the victory that has taken place in Iraq. I don’t believe he wants to screw that up. I could be wrong.

After going mano-a-mano with Obama on television, I am also persuaded that he is a sincere guy—that he wants the best for all Americans. He’s an ideologue, but not a blind one. He understands that his story is incredible, and, I have come to believe, he is grateful to the American system for allowing it happen.

It is true that we don’t know whether Senator Obama has the ability to solve complex problems, but you can say that about all presidential contenders.

Like most politicians, Obama has used guile and good luck to accumulate his power. He can be ruthless, kind, unfair, and generous. In short, he’s a real person trying to achieve an unreal position—that of the most powerful person in the world.

God help him.
