Today we take to the field and battle once more. We battle as both comrades and combatants. The Nike Football Society fires up again and all teams look to see who is the best on this day. It feels like we haven’t played a game in a month! The Thursday Night games put a whole 10 days between matchups, and I’m itchin to get back on the field and work with my teammates. We took a humbling loss in week 3. We were prepared, but we didn’t execute. It happens. The moment demds for us to be better than last week and to be at our best today, and I’m confident that we will rise to the challenge.
One of the interesting things about the league is that we keep the stats for all the players. It’s great to see my squad flourishing as we have top league players on offense and defense. I also notice that I am omitted from the stats. I haven’t done anything “recordable” in 3 games playing. This doesn’t mean that I haven’t been an impact player. To be an impact player, your presence in the game and the totality of your actions must be significant in the grand scheme of the outcome. Playing db, unless you get INT’s you won’t be recorded. We don’t count tackles (flag snatches) or tipped passes etc, so those little things are not mentioned. I also haven’t touched the offense yet (haven’t been needed).
While I take pride that usually my side goes unscatched similar to how people don’t throw to Prime Time or Revis’s side often, I had a bad game Thursday. I got beat for a TD, and missed tackles also. I need to be better. I’m not a super stat watcher (because EVERYONE knows/watches stats and they are fronting otherwise), but I want to have an all around impact. I’m hungry for INT’s and Pick 6′s. I want to help my team get the W in any way I can, but it’s time to make more of an impact than I have to this point.
Challenges breed excellence. It’s time to excel.
