Let me get this out of the way right now; This was one of the best episodes of True Blood I’ve ever seen. Period! I know that might sound a little superfluous, but the amount of blood, gore, and revelations were off the chain! There hasn’t been this much continuous action since Maryanne was fuckin things up! It was Labor Day Weekend and getting this in was quite the struggle, but things need to be highlighted.
They pulled out all the swindles for this episode. They truly set this up like it was a season finale! With all the threads seemingly closing, with some open ended cliffhangers, this felt like the end of a run. That’s the beauty of a penultimate episode for a season. The magic is in the setup! The themes of this episode were loyalty and revenge.
You see the potential end of the sage between Sam and Marcus. The showdown is at Alcide’s house, where his chick has been cheating on him with the pack leader. Sam wants revenge for Tommy, and he gets it indirectly. I like Sam and Marcus shooting the fair one “to the death”. I also like how they handled Marcus’s end. I saw the shift (no pun intended) coming, and now I look for Alcide to be pack leader. Debbie got the boot too, but there has to be another variable waiting to show its face.
We also saw the return of the fairies. Once again I will say that the fairy cooch must be Euphoric, because Andy fell victim. I don’t know about you, but if a random woman hopped out of light in a gold dress and told me to make promises and have sex, I don’t think I would be interested. They do things different in Bon Temps though. Andy’s been addicted all season. Addicted to authority, to V, and now to fairies! I think he will become an indirect weapon for them, and I hope they don’t make the finale cheesy!
Marnie is revealed to be totally consumed by her power. She’s holding the spirit of Antonia against her will, and wants revenge. She seeks revenge against everyone in life who’ve ever pushed her around and took her for a joke. The vampires were her initial target, but now it seems to be anyone who defies her! When she took the life of an innocent, that was the final symbol that this wasn’t just a radical mission, she’s gone full blown villain! She has her Wiccan circle held against their will and won’t rest until the vamps are dead.
Bill, Pam, Eric, and Jessica storm the Emporium to put a end to Marnie once and for all. Here, you see the true control Sookie has over Bill and Eric. I don’t know if its the fact that she’s a fairy, but for supernatural beings who are supposed to have no feelings, she surely has them wrapped around her finger. I like the character development they’ve done with Jason this episode. While he had small parts, you remember that at his core, he’s a real dude. He stands up to Bill and Eric and reminds them that Sookie saved their lives countless times, so for them to want to kill everyone for the sake of killing Marnie is pretty foul. Pam defies Eric in order to save him and try to end the war, and he flips out! I’m glad she did though, because it’s starting to get sickening how Sookie controls these dudes!
You see Jesus’s courage as he tapped into his Brujo powers to break the bond between Antonia and Marnie. You also see Sookie gaining more control over her powers, as she overpowered Marnie temporarily to break the spell that tried to cast the Vamps into the Sunfire shield around the Emporium. If she’s able to wield them at will, she will become a VERY powerful character. Marnie saw her death in a vision, and it came to fruition. This is where we saw one of the craziest scenes this season, as Eric delivered a death blow worthy of ANY Mortal Kombat fatality! Glad to have you back boss! They also made this ending look like a gangster flick. Someone on Boardwalk Empire must’ve helped with this script for real!
We also saw the appearance of #LafayettesLacehawk. Yes, this fool had a Lacefront MOHAWK! X____X
I definitely saw the ending coming a mile away, but I think it was necessary. I knew there was one more episode left, and this season finale looks to be bloody and off the hook! Marnie, now using Lafayette as a vessel, may be unstoppable again. I don’t know where they’re going with this, but I know there will be death and anarchy. in other words it will be excellent!
Can’t wait for next Sunday!

P.S. – I called Jesus Luis. Smh. Does that make me racist?

This episode was beyond excellent. Eric and Bill was on their gangsta ish and adding G status to Vampire elevated them to a whole ‘nother level of bad ass.
The scenes with Andy was kinda meh but I wouldn’t be surprised if that storyline goes further and has some whole other special reasoning behind it (maybe the fairies are trying to breed in some diabolical plot type ish?!?)
I’m gonna need for Jess and Jason to tell Hoyt and get whatever they gonna do popping. Jess and Hoyt’s relationship had a young love kinda feel and although Jessica isn’t ever going to get any older, you can tell she’s grown up. She outgrew Hoyt and this is truly an it is what it is kinda deal. Can’t be mad at who she moves on to in a small town like that.
But anyway..I am dumb excited about the finale. This episode was definitely a battle, but the war ends next Sunday and I’m geeked to see how it ends.
This was a good episode, which is a good thing after all of the meh we were forced to watch at the beginning of the year. By “meh” I mean the Hotshot rape and the curious case of Sookie’s cooch.
-Jason defending his sister’s name was dope. It pointed out that Jason does have good sense and the potential arrogance of the vampires.
- When she’s not being a brat Jessica is a good character.
-Pam and Marnie are neck and neck on the pain in the ass race.
-Eric using my man’s heart as a juice box was hilarious. Disturbing but hilarious.
Nice recap, Sir Streetz!
This was a great episode. I had to catch it OnDemand because I passed out on my couch Sunday after my holiday weekend. But man. was it worth the wait.
I love Pam, and I'm glad she saved Eric from himself. How dare my killer attempt to kill himself over fairy snatch?! That entire scene made me angry.
I hated Bill in the beginning of the series, but he has shown his gangster side, and I like it! About time he drop that Southern gentleman mess.
Jessica is my favorite female character.
Alcide… (I just wanted to type his name).
Looking forward to the finale. Marnie has to go, by any means necessary. If that means we have to say goodbye Lafayette and that fauxfrohawk mess, then so be it!!
