[FITNESS] Workout Log V3N12: Vacation Gift + Curse Pt 2

Workout

This week was the Hybrid recovery week. After 3 weeks of going IN on this workout, it was a great change of pace. I missed the last yoga workout of the week due to my weekend getaway, but that’s not too bad, since I’ve been adding extra yoga throughout the entire process. I also decided that I will take the day off on recovery week. I punish my body for those 3 weeks everyday so I do need a breather.  I’m loving this workout more and more every week.

I got back to NYC on Monday night, flying in a storm of plagues (I’ll write on this Thursday), so I missed my Sunday and Monday Workout. So from Today till Thursday I will double up to catch up on what I missed. Sigh.

Nutrition

My updated Food Journal is off the chain. I’ve upgraded it to include calorie information, and put formulas in it to track how many calories used and calories left over for the day.  I use the knowledge I gained from Tom Venuto’s Holy Grail book to guide me nutritionally and it’s been incredible. You feel accountable for what you eat and can measure well.

As for my actual weekly nutrition, I’d give myself a C- after giving the teacher extra credit work. Monday – Thursday were fine. It was Fri – sunday where I Blew Meals Fast. I went extra hard during the week and restricted so i could account for these missteps. At the end of the day, it is vacation, and I enjoyed myself and didn’t worry about every meal. I tried to make the smart choices, while not allowing myself to feel guilty every meal. I probably OD’d one day, but that’s better than the 5lb resort #swindle that occurs… hahaha! This week I’m back on my grind so no worries here.

Results

I didn’t get to weigh myself on the usual day/time/conditions, so I was going to skip the weigh-in, but just did it today for empirical purposes.  I weighed 191.25 which is .05 up from last week. I kinda figured I wouldn’t be making major gains this week, and would take this reading with a grain of salt either way. technically this would be the first week in 5-6 weeks that I’ve gone in the positive weight wise. Blah. I’m sure I’ll reach milestone 2 by next Monday. I’ll also take my 30+ day pics on Saturday to visually see what the Hybrid progress has accomplished.

The Challenge

1) Stick with the two a days and makeup for missed workouts

2) Eat healthy make few concessions and stick to nutrition plan

3) get more rest this week

Reach those goals!

  1. I'm guessing you have a scale that outputs decimal values? Does it calculate BMI as well? What do you recomment?

      I actually weighed myself once, saw 191.4 and weighed again because I was in disbelief, then i got 190.4. Weighed myself 2 more times & got 191.6. I did math to get 191.25. I don't like scales with more than a tenth place in decimal. No need for all that.

  2. Vacation is a killer. Though, I lost 5lbs. when I went to Vegas for Memorial Day. I was on that liquid diet. lol.

    I finished Insanity Saturday, and I refused to weigh myself. I didn't want to be disappointed if I didn't make my goal. I did take pictures of myself, and there are major and very nice changes from when I first started Insanity. I'm just going to keep doing Insanity with additional resistance workouts. I may get P90X, and add it with running or do the hybrid. Regardless of what I do, I'm excited to see how far I can go.

      Stop bein scurred! How will you know the proper way to hit your goal without data? I'd rather know than not, same with STDs 0_o lol.

      I couldve worked out during vacay but decided i wanted to just VACAy you know? Eating at least 75% right would've helped, but the biggest thing was accounting for the vacation by working hard before I left, which I did :-)

  3. Good post Streetz!
    I leave for Europe ( London/Paris) Friday evening. I know I am going to be doing a lot of walking but I am worried most about:
    1. My water intake diminishing, I drink at least 6 cups daily.
    2. French pastries
    3. Drinking a lot ( read a CRAP LOAD) of wine.

    I have to keep telling myself to not worry about it much but the holidays are coming and I don't want this vacation to be the start of my demise.

    I would say go hard tomorrow, try to get in a workout here n there in Paris, and make sure you go hard when you return. Dont beat yourself up youre on VACAY!

    • Easier said than done Streetz! I have about 17 pounds I want to get rid of before my next vacation (Jamaica in March). I have done everything to try to lose this weight, joined WeightWatchers, got a trainer, nutritionist…etc. I want to be a size 6! I think I am going to cut my arm off

  1. [...] Last week, I told of my .04 weight increase, breaking my decrease streak. To which I proclaimed “Blah. I’m sure I’ll reach milestone 2 by next Monday.”  Big talk but I was confident. Well today I weighed in at 189.2,  a 2.4 pound decrease and almost 1lb under Milestone 2! This was better than I expected which is a plus.  I also took my 30 (plus 5) day Hybrid pics and its some of the best results I’ve seen to date. This only makes me more hungry to get in even better shape. The next Milestone is 185. Once I reach that, I will re-evaluate to see if I need to drop more weight. If I had to guess I’d say I’m gonna make a push for 10 more pounds (180). [...]
