Hancock Movie Review **No Spoilers**

What’s good yall?

Last night I went to check Will Smith’s new movie “Hancock”. First off, it must be nice to be Will. Bangin wife, crazy career, shoot he’s held us down more summers than Jay-Z! After “I Am Legend” which was aite to me, I wasn’t expecting much from this movie. Usually when you go into movies with low expectations it can either pleasantly surprise you or make you wish you put that $10-$12 on the gas tank. I’m happy to say though, that this movie was worth the price of admission.

NOTE: The next paragraph is a synopsis of the movie. No real spoilers but skip to the next paragraph if you’re one of those people who don’t wanna know ish about a movie… then you wouldn’t read this blog either right? OK carry on… lol
In a nutshell, the movie centers around John Hancock, a man with Super Powers who has no recollection of his past. He “helps” out the city of LA, while demolishing it. Hes a classic anti-hero, whose drunk most of the day and doesn’t care what people think. After saving PR exec Ray Embrey(Jason Bateman), he works to change Hancock’s image to make him a true hero.

Watching this movie I thought it was going to be a cheap knockoff of the current superhero trends, but I was mistaken. To me this is one of those movies where the question of “What if Superman was a drunk, badass, I don’t give a fcuk type of dude?” are answered. Will Smith, as always, nails this role as some of his remarks to the crowd are reminiscent of stuff from Bad Boys, and other films. There’s one part where he saves someone and the crowd is bitchin about how he did it. Needless to say his reaction will have you ROLLIN!

This movie is more of a comedy wrapped in a super hero flick. I approved of his origin, which was kind of a cop out, but still remained relevant to the film. The actors in Hancock played their roles well. You’ll laugh and appreciate the humor offered.

The special effects were decent. You’ll find better in Iron Man, and some of the other Marvel films. This movie didn’t need over the top effects though. This movie signified the story of a dude with powers who wants no part of the super hero life, and does stuff just because he CAN!

All in all, I enjoyed the film. It isn’t mind blowing, or a classic, but it’s definitely one to check out this holiday weekend. Will earned his $$$ once again. I say he is one of the best actors of our generation and soon will take Denzel’s spot, which Mr Washington isn’t giving up anytime soon, lol.

Next on my list is Wanted. I heard its CRAZY!!! We’ll see

Enjoy the 4th!

I thought the movie was alright, definitely not a classic or mind blowing. I think if you go in with I Am Legend expectations, you'll be pleasantly suprised with the movie, but if you go in with Bad boy 2 expectations you'll be disappointed. It felt somethng was missing from the movie, they fell shor somewhere. I recommend seeing it matinee. lol

I agree with the comment above me. I went to see it Wednesday night and I thought the movie was just OK. To me it felt like it was more about feeling sorry for him than action and funny parts. Yes it had it had its moments/funny parts, but too many "aww" moments. Oh I also wasn't feeling Charlize Theron in the movie. Eh, I give it 2 stars if any. Def. a matinee or dvd movie. As for Wanted which I saw last weekend, ummm….hmm…sigh, I felt like I was watching another version of the Matrix, only a little less complicated. I wasn't blown away, it was a little too predictable for me. I'm def. waiting for Dark Knight, that should be mind blowing!

Hancock definitely had us laughing hard too. I think Will Smith definitely sold that movie. As for Wanted though…I could have definitely saved that $24 (2 tickets). As far as I am concerned it was a HUGE letdown. Yeah it had great action but it was full of little substance.
